To help you keep track of everything going on at the Titanic this month, we have put together a convenient schedule of all the events and promotions in February. Just minutes away from our cabins in Pigeon Forge, the Titanic Museum is one attraction you do not want to miss.
The Unsinkable Molly Brown Exhibit
The museum's newest exhibit focuses on the extraordinary life of famous Titanic survivor Margaret “Molly” Brown. Brown was an American socialite and activist who became known around the world for her heroism during the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912.
After the ocean liner tragically collided with an iceberg, Brown bravely assisted the crew with the evacuation of the ship. She helped paddle Lifeboat No. 6, and even urged the Quartermaster to turn the lifeboat around to save more people. Later in life, Brown used her celebrity to promote women rights, worker’s rights, and education for children.
When you visit the Titanic Museum, you will find an entire gallery dedicated to Molly Brown and her unbelievable story.
Titanic Descendants Reunion
Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15
A truly historic reunion will occur over Valentine’s Day weekend at the Titanic Museum. Molly Brown’s great-granddaughter Helen Benziger will meet the great-granddaughters of Sir Arthur Rostron, the captain of the ocean liner that rescued the Titanic’s survivors.
On April 15, 1912, Captain Rostron sailed his ship, the RMS Carpathia, through dangerous ice fields in order to rescue the 712 survivors of the Titanic disaster. In recognition of Roston's bravery, Molly Brown presented the captain with a “loving cup”, a silver trophy to symbolize her gratitude.
102 years later, the descendants of these two famous historical figures will meet for the very first time at the Titanic attraction in Pigeon Forge. The three granddaughters will honor the memory of Molly Brown and Captain Rostron with a presentation of the actual loving cup given to the British hero in 1912. All of the visitors to the Titanic on February 14 and 15 will have a chance to meet the weekend’s special guests.
Author Book Signing: Penelope Carlevato
Friday, February 14 - Sunday, February 16
Author Penelope Carlevato will also be at the Titanic over Valentine’s Day weekend to sign copies of her book Tea on the Titanic. Raised in an English home in South Dakota, Penelope Carlevato has always had a deep appreciation for Great Britain’s national drink of choice. In her book, Carlevato explores the historical and social significance of tea on the ill-fated RMS Titanic.
Penelope will sign books and meet with visitors from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Author Book Signing: Lee Meredith
Saturday, February 22 - Wednesday, March 5
Lee Meredith’s book 1912 Facts About the Titanic sheds light on some lesser known stories and tidbits about the RMS Titanic and its tragic journey. Meredith takes on some of the most persistent myths about the Titanic and explores the untold history of the men who built the ship and the investigations into her sinking.
Lee will sign books and meet with visitors from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. during his 12 days in Pigeon Forge.
