We’re Spilling The Beans About This New Gatlinburg Event in May

family_photo.jpgDo you like beans and cornbread? This classic dish is a Smoky Mountain tradition that always leaves you feeling warm and satisfied. If you’ve never enjoyed this Appalachian speciality, now’s your chance! In May, the Smokies will host the first ever Gatlinburg Beans ‘n Cornbread Blast. With games, music, and heaping servings of the area’s signature dish, this brand new festival is a can’t miss Gatlinburg event.

When and Where

The Gatlinburg Beans ‘n Cornbread Blast will take place on May 8, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. All of the fun will happen along the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg.

The Great Bean Cook-off

The menu for this festival isn’t hard to guess! There will be beans, cornbread, and lots of it. Local vendors will serve up bowl after bowl of this tasty dish as they compete for the coveted title of “Best Beans in the Smokies”. Everyone who attends the event is also a judge, so be sure to cast your vote for the recipe that really knocks your socks off.

Fun and Games

As you enjoy your food, you will be serenaded by one of the area’s best bluegrass bands. This high energy Appalachian music is the perfect addition to a day of springtime fun in the Smokies.

The Beans ‘n Cornbread Blast will also feature a friendly Corn Hole Tournament. Start practicing your bean bag tossing now, so you can impress your friends and family when the big competition comes around. Proceeds for the tournament will benefit the local Humane Society.
